Toronto Architects at ‘Sustainable TO’ placed in the top 10 at the “Cambodian Sustainable Housing” competition with their brilliantly creative “PHASEhouse” home.
Check out the digs:
This home is many things, but first and foremost, this home is affordable! On top of this, it's also functional, sustainable and stylish! So if you've ever contemplated a move to Cambodia and want to invest in one of these….have a look at the pricing structure.
Phase 1 of ‘PHASEhouse’ will cost $1,790.15. This will buy you the brick and bamboo home you see above. Phase 2 is an additional $650.00, which will provide a raised walkway with planter boxes. These planter boxes are strategically located around the home to be used for planting food or pest repellant plants. Phase 3 at $163.15 will provide a platform on stilts connecting the walkway to the bedroom wing. This multi-purpose platform provides room for storage, shade and protection from flooding. Phase 4 is a thatched roof supported by bamboo beams that will cover the platform from phase 3. Screening and netting will surround the platform to add additional sleeping quarters! Each phase was methodically planned to serve more than one purpose!
Here is what it will look like inside:
All of this for a total of: $2,456.73!
The ‘PHASEhouse’ design has influenced the Toronto based architects as they incorporate this creative and functional vision into the future design of their projects here in Canada. Architect Mr. Dowsett best describes their evolving vision; “The simplicity of the idea, of getting something down to its absolute essence, is now something that we apply to every project that we work on”.
