This is such a cool eco-based idea. Put a bike rack on it, and I’m sold!
The Ecocapsule, which was recently introduced by Nice Architects, is a low energy house packed into a compact egg-shaped form. Outfitted with all the necessities for a prolonged stay without the need to recharge or refuel.
It merges an energy efficient shape and off-grid capabilities with the luxuries of a warm bed, running water and a hot meal. Enjoy all the conveniences of home (or hotel) in the middle of the wilderness!
Powered by solar panels integrated into the roof and a wind turbine, the shape is also optimized for rainwater collection, which is then filtered for use.
Ecocapsule fits into a standard shipping container with no special preparations or precautions required to ship it worldwide. It can be shipped, airlifted, towed or even pulled by a pack animal (honestly, that’s what the designers claim!)
This would be an ideal solution for outpost research stations, emergency housing or humanitarian action units – leaving no trace behind, except maybe a temporary bald spot in the grass. I would park it on the edge of a lake or the side of a mountain but since it fits into a shipping container, it really can go anywhere in the world!
